Smallmouth Bass Tournament Angling Record for Nova Scotia
In 2009, my fishing partner Robert Mailman and me had an especially good year. Fishing up the Mersey River in one of the South Shore Bassmasters tournaments on June 28th, we just kept landing one big fish after another, through that perfect combination of skill and good luck. We were full of excitement as we returned to shore for the weigh-in, and our excitement grew when it was our turn to have our five live fish weighed. The total weight was 17.26 lbs, which at that time, and for a number of years after, was the Nova Scotia record. It has since been surpassed, but still stands as the second-highest weight caught in a smallmouth bass tournament in the province.
